The leghorn is an intelligent and high-energy breed of chicken and therefore require a bit more space and enrichment than the average chicken in their enclosures in order to keep them happy. They are good flyers and will roost in trees if allowed. They will lay 280 – 320 white eggs per year, or roughly 4 eggs per week. They will happily forage for their own food if allowed to free-range and have an excellent feed-to-egg ratio, giving you lots of eggs in return for minimal feeding. Our birds will be 20 weeks old on the 23rd October 2020, with average point-of-lay age between 20 and 24 weeks.
